Social Bookmarking Questions

1. 1.What's another way you can organize and store information on your computers?

• you can organize and store information on computers by saving things and putting them into labeled folders.

• I learned more about what is happening and what people are doing in the world right now

• I found out about the bridgegate, the fighting going on in Russia and Ukraine, and I also learned that more states are trying to legalize marijuana

• Some others are Delicious,StumbleUpon, and BlueDot

• I don't think i will continue to use social bookmarking because i think there are other ways that are more convenient 

Flappy Bird flies Again in August with Multiplayer

•  Flappy Bird was originally deleted because it was "too addictive"
• creator Dong Nguyen says the game will be less addicting this time
• you will be able to take turns playing with friends and beating their high scores

Kill Switches Will Save Your Smartphone

• activation lock is a type of  kill switch 
• allows owners to remotely deactivate and wipe a lost device or stolen device
• so far activation lock is only available for iPhones
• In February, U.S. senators proposed a law that would require manufacturers to include a kill switch on all new phones
• they believe it could destroy any incentive of stealing a phone in the first place

Web 2.0 Tool

The plagiarism checker and I can use it in Ms. Hunter's class for english. I can use it to check if i have any plagiarism on my research papers and other papers and projects that I need to hand in. I can avoid getting points taken off for plagiarizing. I can learn how to check for plagiarism so I won't get a bad grade.

•     I selected these sites because I am familiar with them and i am interested in some   of them.

• Some sites were easy to find and subscribe to and others were not.

• My favorites were the sites about my hobbies and interests.

• You can use RSS feeds to stay updated with information.

• I am not likely to use RSS feeds in the future because I find it easier to just visit the website.

My Favorite Restaurant

         My favorite restaurant is Panera Bread. Its is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Panera is a chain restaurant. There are many different locations throughout the country. Panera serves many different foods from salads to pasta. They also serve fresh bread and bagels and pastries. Panera is not a restaurant where you are waited on but you can sit down and eat inside. It has a calm atmosphere so some people go there to study and do work related things.They also cater.

         My favorite thing to eat at Panera is their mac and cheese. I get it with bread on the side and an iced green tea. The mac and cheese is made with shell pasta and Vermont white cheddar cheese. It is really good. You can get the mac in cheese in a regular bowl or a bread bowl. You can also get chips or fruit on the side instead of bread. The green tea has some lemonade in it to make it a little bit sweeter. You can get it sweetened or unsweetened.
         Panera is my favorite restaurant because the food is amazing. I love to go with my friends to have lunch. We usually go on a half day of school to get lunch. It is usually really busy around lunch time so sometimes we have to get it to go and we eat at home. If Panera closed I would probably lay in bed and cry forever because I love it so much.

• One person created the page and multiple people contributed the facts they know to the wiki.
• What would you add to it?
• We would update the facts on the technology because the last posting was in 2007. 
• What did you learn from it?
• Disruptive technology is a sustaining innovation that doesn't result in the collapse of existing companies.
• If you had to create a Wiki with a team, what would be the specific topic(s)?
• We would organize information and facts to use for notes or a group project at school.
• How can Wikis be used in the classroom or in education?
• Wikis can be used to share ideas, notes, information, and facts on a certain topic. 

"Wiki wiki" means "quickly" in Hawaiian.... 

• How can a wiki be used in your current classes? Be specific to your classes!
• Wikis can be used in my class to share information with my classmates and teachers so that everyone can see it and in history we use wikis to take notes.
• What are the benefits of using a wiki?
• Wikis make it easier for a group of people to organize a list or notes s the information can be shared with anyone.
• How can we create one in this class and utilize it?
• We can create a wiki by signing up on a wiki website. We can use a wiki in this class for taking notes and organizing projects in groups.
• What experience do you have using or creating wikis?
• I have used wikis in History to organize notes with the class and my teacher about different topics that we are learning about.

Do Now 3/31/14

Wikis are pages that you post information that you can share with your friends, family, and teachers. I used a wiki in my World History class and we worked in groups. The whole class was able to view the wiki.

New Twitter Update

• you now have the ability to tag people in the pictures that you tweet
• you can tag up to 10 people in each photo
• by selecting an image you can see who is tagged in it
• there is also a new collage option where you can post up to four pictures in one tweet

Do Now 3/24/14

I purchase or join something if it looks interesting or colorful. Also if it is not too expensive or if it is free I would most likely try it out. There would also have to be good quality.

Flappy Bird Returning Back to App Stores

• The Flappy Bird game will be returning back to app stores but owner Dong Nguyen says it will not be soon
• The app was originally deleted because it was said to be too addictive
• While we wait for Flappy Bird to come back to app stores, Dong Nguyen has other apps available to play like Shuriken Block and Super Ball Juggling

If I was invisible

         If I was invisible for a day I would help find a cure for cancer. Cancer is a big problem in the world and i know people who struggled and are still struggling with cancer. Many people lose family and close friends because of the horrible disease. I would want to help them keep their family and friends. Everyone should be able to live a long healthy life.
         By curing cancer the world would be a happier place. Many people who beat cancer would be able to have fun in life. They would not have the fear of dying from the disease. Although no one would thank me because they didn't know who found a cure i would feel happy.

Apple Patents New Emergency Alert

Apple has come up with the idea of your smartphone 

being able to sense if there is an emergency and contacting the police or certain contacts in your phone. The owner of the smartphone can choose something to trigger the alert. The alert could be triggered by many things like a sudden loud noise or headphones being yanked out. The smartphone would either call 911 and give out GPS coordinates or dial an emergency contact. Apple 

has only filed a patent so it is not definite

if this application will be released.

Spreadsheets can be helpful for many things. They help you organize your information. Teachers might use spreadsheets to keep track of a student's grades or attendance record. They can make different columns for tests, quizzes, and homework grades too. The teacher can average out the student's grades to find their final grade.Spreadsheets are very helpful.

The article is about copyright laws. Sometimes if you find a picture online and want to repost it somewhere, you need to get permission from the person who posted it. A lot of people use copyrighted images without permission and don't realize that they are doing something wrong.

My Class

         I am in Mr. Porfido's seventh period Web 2.0 class. This year i expected to learn more about computers and technology. So far we have learned how to set up a blog and how to post on it. Mr.Porfido has a simple grading policy. It is 40% formal assessments, 40% projects, 10% homework, and 10% class participation. Every Friday we have homework due on our blogs. we have to find an article about technology and summarize it.

         In this class we use portable computers. We use this technology everyday in class to go on our blogs and learn more about the computers. since we have not been in this class very long I don't know much about any projects we are going to do or any field trips we might go on. 

         My favorite thing about this class so far is being able to use the laptops. I want to be able to do a fun project with my friends. I remember doing one last time i had this class and it was really fun to make. I would also enjoy going on a field trip.

Smartphones Might Replace Hotel Keys

Starwood Hotels and Resorts in New York City and Cupertino, California plan to make hotel room keys virtual. They plan to debut the app in about two or three months. The app will be compatible with recent iPhone models including the 4s and newer androids. By using Bluetooth you will be able to enter your room with a simple tap.
